The Tournament

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is the 23rd edition of the tournament, running from 11 June to 19 July 2026. It is the first World Cup hosted by three nations — the United States, Canada and Mexico — and the first to feature an expanded 48-team field across 12 groups.

Host Nations

Matches are played across 16 host cities: eleven in the United States, three in Mexico and two in Canada. The United States stages the majority of fixtures, including the knockout rounds from the quarter-finals onward.

The Final

The opening match took place at the iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City — the first stadium to host matches at three World Cups. The Final will be held on 19 July 2026 at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey.

How It Works

The 48 teams are drawn into 12 groups of four. The top two from each group, plus the eight best third-placed teams, advance to a new Round of 32, followed by the Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the Final.
